Burberry’s Christopher Bailey is celebrating the relocation of the British brand’s flagship boutique to Rodeo Drive with the launch of a photography project, Art of the Trench. Images shot with iPhones of Jacqui Getty, Natalie Love, Tennessee Thomas and over 30 other top tastemakers including Ann Philbin, Janice Min, Lee Clow, Nigel Daly, and Zanna Roberts Rassi were shot by L.A.-based mobile photographers. The subjects each wear a Burberry trench as they sit, walk or stand near the city’s most iconic landmarks and neighborhoods (Sunset Boulevard, Santa Monica Pier, Beverly Hills, the Hollywood Sign). The Art of the Trench campaign, launched by Burberry in 2009, serves as a visual story celebrating the coat and the real people who wear it. The collected mobile portraits can be viewed exclusively on the Burberry Tumblr page and the company website. Does your iphone create such crisp shots? Get in the trenches and try it.
