Perfect Pairing: Apolis + Flowerboy Project
Interpret Gertrude Stein’s phrase, a rose is a rose is a rose, as you will. Regardless of your conclusions—esoteric or obvious—you’ll likely want to give away an arrangement of such blooms on February 14, following some interpretation of Saint Valentine’s Day lore. Enter furniture designer Sean Knibb, and Lindsay and Raan Parton of Alchemy Works who joined forces to launch Flowerboy Project in Venice, plus Shea Parton who co-founded menswear line Apolis (along with brother Raan). This creative braintrust has devised a suitably chic collaborative solution to celebrate the day. Knibb, who grew up visiting his florist grandmother in Jamaica, is designing bouquets available by special order at Apolis Common Gallery in Los Angeles’ Arts District. Each bunch of posies, and the accompanying dash of greenery, is architectural yet vibrant and comes wrapped in understated butcher paper with a natural fiber cord. What is a rose in this instance? That’s for you to work out in the accompanying message card.
