“When I think about Paradise, this is the way I imagine it. Blue skies, idyllic white sand beaches, transparent water, birds singing, dolphins and shady palms!” says stylist and designer Erica Pelosini, who recently visited the Hawaiian island of Lana’i with her new husband, the Dutch shoe designer Louis Leeman. The Los Angeles-based couple wanted a quick getaway that was also relaxing and picturesque. So they jetted to Lana’i, one of the smaller and more secluded Hawaiian Islands. “We were welcomed with a typical Lei, the flower necklace given as a tradition by Hawaiian people as a symbol of affection, and brought to our suite overlooking this paradisiacal view,” says Pelosini. The newlyweds spent their trip perched beachside or hiking around the island before dining inside the new Nobu Lana’i at the Four Seasons Lana’i Manele Bay. “It was the perfect destination for a romantic tropical escape,” says Pelosini. Here are the highlights from her vacation.

STAY

FOUR SEASONS LANA’I AT MANELE BAY The oceanside resort bordering a marine preserve with spinner dolphins was my home away from home.

DINE

NOBU LANA’I A Nobu under the stars! Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s signature new-style Japanese cuisine was mixed with innovative creations infusing local Hawaiian ingredients from the vegetable garden and fish from the surrounding oceans.

PLAY

SPA AT FOUR SEASONS LANA’I AT MANELE BAY I was treated with a Hawaiian spa ritual upon arrival. Is there a better way to begin a vacation? I had one of the best massages, the Pohaku Lomi, that incorporates traditional Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and hot stone therapy using a blend of tropical essential coconut oils from a natural skin-care collection made in the Hawaiian Islands by Dr. Jurgen Klein.

PU’U PEHE My mornings started with long hikes to explore the various landscapes of Lana’i, from the jungle to the white sand beaches along the coastline. One of my favorite spots was Pu’u Pehe (Sweetheart Rock), a red lava cliff with a spectacular view of the ocean.

HULOPOE BEACH This idyllic stretch of white sand at the foot of the Four Seasons is perfect for a picnic under shady palms, for swimming, and for water sports like paddle boarding , surfing and snorkeling to spot colorful fish and wildlife.
