A parade of nude lips lent a freshness to the spring 2016 designs by Laura and Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte, shown in New York on Tuesday, September 15. Poets, including Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Emily Dickinson inspired the ethereal collection of delicate lace dresses, glam pantsuits, and billowing scarves. Makeup artist James Kaliardos developed the Pasadena-based siblings’ celestial ideas even further using NARS Cosmetics to create a dewy glow on models’ faces. He dusted cheeks and eyelids with Craving Dual-Intensity Blush to create “a youthful fresh color based on the sunrise and horizon.” The fresh-faced look brought to mind refrains of “I’ll Tell You How the Sun Rose,” Dickinson’s beautiful ode to the changing nature of light from dawn to dusk.
