California Beauty: Maggie Gyllenhaal

Los Angeles-based makeup artist Molly R. Stern wanted actress Maggie Gyllenhaal’s eyes to shine at the New York premiere of White House Down on Tuesday, June 25. “The inspiration for her look was a modern day Hello Dolly,” Stern says. “I wanted her skin to be flushed and healthy with a pop of a lip and a whole lot of lashes.”
FACE
“I started by cooling down her skin with Caudalie Beauty Elixir and then massaged By Terry Serum De Rose and Natura Bisse C+C Vitamin Cream into her skin. Next I applied Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation sparingly to even out her complexion. For her cheeks I applied Flower Beauty Creme Blush in Pure Petunia as a base and then dusted Cargo Powder Blush in Catalina all over for an added flush of glow.”
EYES
“For Maggie’s eyes, I only applied a dab of Hypergloss Eye Shimmer by VS Beauty in Golden Lights Gold and a light dusting of Nars Matte Eyeshadow in Sophia under the lash line. For her lashes I layered By Terry Mascara in Black and Brown.”
LIPS
“For Maggie’s lips I first applied Flower Beauty Lip Color in LS12 and then added the pop by applying Flower Beauty Lip Color in LS16 in the center. The effect gave her lips an added pout and allowed for a subtle punch.”
