California Beauty: Keira Knightley
Keira Knightly was a vision in metallics at the Los Angeles premiere of The Imitation Game, the new film by Morten Tyldum about World War II code cracker Alan Turing (played by Benedict Cumberbach), held on Monday, November 10, at the Directors Guild of America Theater. Chanel makeup artist Kate Lee found herself inspired to create a look that reflected the sparkling tones of the Chanel haute couture dress Knightley donned for the opening. “Keira wore a beautiful cream colored gown embellished with pale pink crystals,” said Lee. “I love to play up her features, so this evening I decided on a smoldering metallic eye with rose gold highlights, paired with a beautiful deep rose lip.”
FACE
“I prepped Keira’s skin by using Hydra Serum Micro Sérum (available this winter), which has tiny drops of Camélia oil to hydrate and plump the skin. It’s so decadent!” said Lee. “I followed the serum with a light application of Perfection Lumière Velvet Smooth-Effect Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 to diffuse the light and give her a beautiful velvety complexion. The final step was a dusting of Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour to help keep things in place. On the cheekbones, I used Le Blush Crème de Chanel in Cheeky, which is a beautiful bronze rose.”
EYES
“For the eyes I used a combination of colors from the Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Rivoli starting with the darkest color in the outer third of Knightley’s eye socket and along the lower lash line. I used the mid-tone for the center of the eyelid and added a slight highlight to the crest of the brow bone using the lightest shade. In the inner corners, I added a few highlights with Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Emerveillé,” said Lee. “I applied Inimitable Waterproof in Noir to the upper and lower lashes. I also added a few individual lashes to the outer corners of Knightley’s eyes and groomed the brows into place with a clear brow gel.”
LIPS
“On Knightley’s lips I used Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in Marie (available this spring), which I used as a stain first, blotting, and then intensifying the center of the lip,” said Lee.
