Los Angeles-based manicurist Lisa Jachno of labnails shaped and polished the nails of actress Julia Roberts (August: Osage County) for the Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 12. Her daughter, Alexandra Jachno, prepped Emma Thompson’s (Saving Mr. Banks) hands for the evening ceremony. The two nominees (Roberts for Best Supporting Actress and Thompson for Best Actress in a Drama) opted for colors on opposite sides of the polish spectrum.

NAILS

Julia Roberts:
Lisa shaped Roberts’ nails using labnails tapered nail file, keeping them short and modern. Next, she buffed the nails lightly with labnails buffy 3-in-1 mani pen before hydrating Roberts’ skin with Absolute Hand by Lancome. Jachno polished Roberts’ nails in a deep purple, Lancome’s Midnight Rose. The color complimented Roberts’ strapless black Dolce & Gabbana dress paired with a crisp collared white blouse.

Emma Thompson:
Emma wanted a beautiful clean look that was neutral for any dress and shoe. She hadn’t decided what she was wearing when she got her manicure so she wanted a color that could match everything. Alexandra applied Chanel’s light pink Ballerina shade to Thompson’s nails and the neutral color paired well with her black Lanvin dress with a gold lace bodice. Thompson memorably walked onstage barefoot during the awards show, carrying her Christian Louboutin heels, and remarked that the red soles on the shoes signified her own blood after hours of standing in them on the carpet.
