California Beauty: Jeremy Scott Fall 2014
Los Angeles-based fashion designer Jeremy Scott seemed to have been inspired by athletic locker rooms, referencing sports jerseys, football pads, tube socks, and varsity jackets in his fall 2014 ready-to-wear presentation on Wednesday, February 12, held during New York Fashion Week. He sent out bright hot dog stand colors and clothes emblazoned with numbers for his eponymous line (the designer also recently took the helm at the Italian fashion house of Moschino). Scott tapped nail artist Patricia Yankee to oversee manicures for his models, and they devised a look Scott called, “locker room lingerie.” The nearly natural result led models to look like they had just stepped out of the locker room showers with slicked-back hair, dewy fresh skin, and rosy pink nails to match.

NAILS
Collaborating with Scott and the designer’s legendary stylist, Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Yankee used a white Sally Hansen nail pencil under the edge of each nail to create a cleaner, more natural nail tip. Next, she combined two drops of Atonement, a red color from Yankee’s namesake line, Patricia Nail Lacquer, with a full bottle of Protect topcoat. Two coats applied to the nails of each model gave hands a tinted, glossy pink hue, and complemented Scott’s sporty ready-to-wear looks.
