California Beauty: Creatures of the Wind
“We both do everything,” said Christopher Peters who designs Creatures of the Wind with fellow Chicago resident Shane Gabier. “We both sketch, we’re both trained in patternmaking, we’re aware of what can be done,” added Gabier during a visit to Los Angeles while the fall looks for the label’s ready to wear collections were still being designed. The pair, who also live in New York part-time, experimented with shapes this season, and the cut of the dresses and coats showed an Eastern influence at their fall 2014 presentation in New York on Thursday, February 6. NARS Director of Global Artistry James Boehmer found inspiration for the look he created on models in the dark to light spectrum of fabric colors Gabier and Peters selected for autumn. “The collection this season is about transcendence; moving from the earthly realm into the light,” said Boehmer. “We wanted the makeup to reflect a sense of purity and illumination, so we focused on gleaming, luminous skin and a metallic blue liner on the inside of the eye to light the eyes from within.”
