California Beauty: Alicia Vikander

“I wanted to create a dreamy but modern look that highlighted Alicia’s naturally beautiful features. The metallic shades on her eyes complement her dewy, fresh skin,” said makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury of Golden Globe double nominee Alicia Vikander. The actress paired the fresh look created by Tilbury with a crisp white belted column dress designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere for Louis Vuitton at the awards ceremony held on Sunday, January 10, in Beverly Hills. Tilbury devised a combination of foundations, bronzers, and highlighters to give Vikander’s skin a subtle glow. Sparkling eyes and lashes with three coats of mascara added a dash of contrast, as did matte lips covered in two quintessential Tilbury tones: Sexy Sienna and Walk of Shame.
FACE
Tilbury prepped Vikander’s skin by applying her Magic Cream to the entire face followed by Wonderglow to create a flawless soft focus finish and an instant spotlighting effect, which acted as a base for Light Wonder Foundation in 8 Dark and 9 Dark. After using concealer, Tilbury gave Vikander a dusting of Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder in 2 Medium to create an even complexion. To highlight and add subtle contours, Tilbury used a combination of Filmstar Bronze & Glow in Light-Medium and Dreamy Glow Highlighter. Filmstar Bronze & Glow was used with the Powder & Sculpt Brush to highlight and sculpt Alicia’s cheeks, nose, jawline and temples. Tilbury added Dreamy Glow Highlighter to the tops of her cheekbones and down the nose. Tilbury also used Beach Stick in Las Salinas across Alicia’s cheekbones for a pretty pink, healthy, youthful glow.
EYES
To a create a sparkling eye look, Charlotte applied a mixture of her cream eye shadow, Eyes to Mesmerise, in Bette and Marie Antoinette across the lids and underneath the eye. She used Marie Antoinette to illuminate the inner corners of Vikander’s eyes. Rock ‘N’ Kohl in Bedroom Black was applied three quarters of the way along the upper lash line, and Tilbury topped off the look with three coats of Full Fat Lashes on the top and bottom lashes plus Brow Lift in Cara D on Vikander’s brows.
LIPS
Tilbury created Vikander’s matte lips by first lining them with Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pink Venus, and topping them off with a mixture of Matte Revolution Lipstick in Sexy Sienna and Walk of Shame.
