About Town: Pressed Juicery
Pressed Juicery co-founders Carly de Castro, Hayden Slater, and Hedi Gores haven’t always been so health-conscious. But, inspired by the way cold-pressed fruits, vegetables, and herbs transformed their lives, the trio of friends launched Pressed Juicery in 2010, bottling and selling their delicious concoctions in a charming Brentwood storefront. Last year, they dreamed up Freeze, frozen vegan soft serve that’s gluten- and dairy-free and is made with nuts as well as blends of fruits and vegetables, a perfect refresher as summer temperatures heat up. Now, with multiple locations throughout Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Las Vegas, and inside Equinox gyms in New York, the company is adding a new Silver Lake location to its roster. The new shop is nestled inside the trio’s favorite L.A. store, Shinola, which stocks watches, bicycles, journals, and other leather goods. As the juice pros prepare toasts for the opening fête at the shop-in-shop on Saturday, July 11 (from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), they’ve shared their favorite L.A. haunts.

THE ROW (Gores) Not only is it my favorite line, but their new store on Melrose Place is the most beautiful store I have ever been to. I could live there.
SHINOLA (Slater) So stoked that this Detroit brand has made its way to LA—big fan here.
KAYNE GRIFFIN CORCORAN (Gores) One of L.A.’s best art galleries. The shows put on there are amazing. Make sure to check out the Turrell mediation room.
BITTER ROOT POTTERY (Slater) I’m trying to learn how to make cool stuff. The wheel is much harder than it looks.
WILDFIBER STUDIO (de Castro) I’ve been addicted to knitting this winter and I love to pop in here to curl up on the couch and work on my projects. There is a beautiful array of yarns from all over the world.
CARO BAMBINO (de Castro) My new favorite neighborhood store for kids and infants is a welcome addition to our community. They carry mostly organic and sustainably made products—everything you need from furniture to toys and beyond. The store itself is gorgeous and there are classes offered for parents.
CLARE V. (de Castro) I’m so happy this store has made its way to the Westside. I love Clare for her signature bags and pouches, and she carries some of my favorite brands: Heather Taylor home linens, Regime des Fleurs scents, Grace Lee jewelry, and Rodin beauty products.
GJUSTA (de Castro) This spot is so much more than a bakery and cafe. I don’t even know how to describe the deliciousness of the food or the array of options. I always go for the sprouted rye toast with labneh, herbed gravlax, and the works. You won’t regret it.
PRESSED JUICERY (Slater) Duh. But lately, I’ve been frequenting our Hollywood store. It’s the closest location to me with Freeze, which I’m finding myself craving every day.
SHIMA SUSHI (Slater) You’re welcome. Incredible food on Abbot Kinney.
CMC PRO BOXING (Slater) My new thing. And the hardest workout I’ve ever done.
PROVA PIZZERIA (Gores) My favorite kale salad and gluten-free pizza.
THE SELF REALIZATION FELLOWSHIP (Gores) I go for the scenic beauty and whenever I need to recharge or have some quiet time.
