Menswear designer Derek Mattison got his start by putting his personal touch on blazers he bought from Jill Sander, Dior and Tom Ford. After altering them to create an entirely new piece, Mattison knew it was time to start his own line. Though you’ll rarely find him away from the helm of his eponymous Melrose Place  store (all of his pieces are made locally, then numbered and signed), these are some of the CA places he’ll go to escape:
