About Town: Amalie Gassmann
San Francisco-born and Paris-raised Amalie Gassmann, who signed with IMG Models while still in high school, recently found herself West Coast-bound during a break from her studies at Bard College in upstate New York. The full-time film student who has walked for Sonia Rykiel, landed a Lanvin perfume campaign, and worked with beauty brands including MAC Cosmetics, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Estée Lauder, and Guerlain, touched down in Los Angeles and snapped images of everything that caught her eye. Here, Gassmann shares her favored L.A. stops.
THE BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL I love the glamorous heritage of this hotel and its peachy pink, palm frond wallpaper. I especially enjoy meeting with friends for a laid-back breakfast of granola and fruit at the Fountain Coffee Room.
ALFRED COFFEE Such a great place for a coffee break. Not only it is yummy but the cups always have great designs, perfect for that Insta!
RAWBERRI When I’m craving something sweet, this cute spot has delicious acai bowls and Cocowhip vegan ice cream.
NASTY GAL I was so happy to find out that my favorite online store opened up on Melrose Avenue. If you’re looking for something edgy and original, this is the place. I like going for the bodysuits and amazing shoe collection.
REFORMATION A good boutique for basics and flowing dresses. They also have vintage jeans and shorts. The store itself has wooden clothing racks and neon writing on the walls. I wish it was my closet!
PAINTED BIRD I don’t normally like vintage shopping, but this shop is very organized and has great items. I go for the oversized t-shirts and designer finds.
ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS If you want the perfect brows, go here! I only use these products on my brows and they can show you how it is done at the salon.
SUNSET PACIFIC MOTEL This abandoned Silverlake structure has been painted in white by the artist Vincent Lamouroux.
TASCHEN GALLERY The current collection of David Bowie images and shots from the film, The Revenant, is worth a look.
