The opening gala for the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills on Thursday, October 17, drew a red carpet filled with supporters including Charlize Theron, Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale, Amy Adams, Jodie Foster, Demi Moore, Gia Coppola, and Jacqui Getty. The evening, presented by Salvatore Ferragamo and hosted by co-chairs Wallis Annenberg and Jamie Tisch, included performances by the Paris Opera Ballet, Kevin Spacey, John Lithgow, Diane Lane, and violinist Hilary Hahn. Guests, including many members of the Ferragamo family—Ferruccio, James, Massimo, and Chiara—and the Italian fashion house’s creative director Massimiliano Giorentti, got a first look inside the new block-long complex designed by Zoltan Pali of SPF:architects that includes the Lovelace Studio Theater created in the renovated Beverly Hills Post Office, the Jamie Tisch Sculpture Garden, and the new Bram Goldsmith Theater. Dinner followed the ballet and violin performances, culminating in a presentation of Ferragamo’s spring ’14 collection to operatic strains sung by Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo. The fashion house also launched a pop-up boutique in the center’s Grand Hall that will remain in place through the opening performances by the Martha Graham Dance Company in November. Arts partons convened in the Hall for espressos, desserts and beats by DJ Michael Smith to cap off the elegant celebration.
