On Saturday, January 5, aesthetes and celebrity guests celebrated The Art of Elysium’s 12th annual gala and one-night-only artistic installation called Heaven, curated by the 2019 Visionary, photographer Michael Muller. The black-tie affair—co-chaired by Evangelo Bousis, Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix—honored contemporary artist Beau Dunn as The Spirit of Elysium for her dedication to the organization, which supports art programs for individuals dealing with emotionally difficult times, such as illness or displacement.

The evening’s attendees, including Jennifer Garner, Kris Jenner and Dita Von Teese, gathered at a private event venue in Koreatown, where they admired special-edition neon installations by Dunn, which she donated to The Art of Elysium to raise funds. Visionaries from past years, such as Shepard Fairey, Marina Abramovic, Vivienne Westwood and John Legend, mingled with former Spirit of Elysium honorees Eva Mendes, David Arquette, Amber Heard and others. In addition to a meal by chef Shirley Chun, guests enjoyed performances by Phantogram, Chuck D and Linda Perry, as well as a runway show by Peter Dundas.
