The Cultivist, an exclusive international arts club, and Valmont North America, whose eponymous foundation is dedicated to contemporary art, held the 5X5: Artist Dinner Monday, February 11, at NeueHouse on Sunset Boulevard. A lively seated dinner for more than 125 guests, the evening celebrated Frieze art fair’s inaugural event on the West Coast (February 15-17), and the inimitable spirit of art in Los Angeles.

At the invitation of The Cultivist’s global curator, Joey Lico, a handful of L.A.-based artists not only co-hosted tables but also collaborated behind the scenes in the days leading up to the affair to design tabletop decor and produce the one-of-a-kind dining experience. Participating artists included Yasmine Diaz, FriendsWithYou, Eve Fowler, Genevieve Gaignard, Ramiro Gomez, Maurice Harris, Elliott Hundley and Patrick Martinez.

As the tasteful evening came to a close, guests such as Natalie Bloomingdale, Gabriel Chipperfield, Casey Fremont Crowe, Laura de Gunzburg, Marlies Verhoeven and other art aficionados each departed with a special favor in hand — a limited-edition blanket by artist Eve Fowler, commissioned by MatchesFashion to commemorate the occasion.
