In recent years, the Palm Springs International Film Festival has become the gala that kicks off Hollywood’s awards season, and this year’s celebration brought out a British contingent of actors and directors to the desert on Saturday, January 3. Following the ceremony, Matthew Beard and Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), David Oyelowo (Selma), and Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything), gathered at the Parker Palm Springs for a post-party held inside the hotel’s grand ballroom. Also on hand for the late night festivities were Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern (both of whom appeared in Wild), Allen Leech (The Imitation Game), Richard Linklater (Boyhood), Shirley MacLaine, and Jason Reitman.
