More than 700 guests gathered in Los Angeles for the The Museum of Contemporary Art‘s (MOCA) 36th annual gala presented by Louis Vuitton and held at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA on Saturday, May 30. The event honored Los Angeles–based artist John Baldessari and included a live performance by Janelle Monaé, and museum director Philippe Vergne welcomed Marisa Tomei, Alex Van Halen, Dita Von Teese, Wolfgang Puck, Doug Aitken, Nate Lowman, Ed Ruscha, Frank Gehry, Marian Goodman, Michael Kohn, Bettina Korek, Michele Maccarone, and Shaun Regen to the dinner and viewing of William Pope.L: Trinket. Supporters who arrived to see the large-scale politically-charged installations and sculpture by the Chicago-based performance artist helped this year’s event raise more than $3 million to support the museum’s operations.
