Farbod Barsum celebrated the opening of his new Beverly Hills boutique on Wednesday, April 2. The luxury handbag designer, who holds a degree in fashion from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise (FIDM) and one in architecture from NewSchool of Architecture and Design (NSAD), sketched the blueprints for the space himself. Thirteen crystal chandeliers illuminated his multi-colored handbags, clutches, and leather goods. Each item is named after a woman, including his Tina bag, an evening clutch in Cypress green made of American alligator and a portion of sales from each goes to Autism research. Barsum also recently launched a line of men’s accessories and modern travel bags named for men. All of the designs are made from sustainably sourced exotic skins and are crafted in the United States. Barsum welcomed friends, stylists, and editors to the opening bash and he counts actresses Sofia Vergara and Kate Beckinsale among fans.
