Stephanie Danan and Justin Kern, the founders of Co, teamed up with producer Donna Langley to host an exclusive party on the evening of Wednesday, September 5, at the Fitzpatrick-Leland House in Laurel Canyon. The event celebrated the launch of the Los Angeles label’s campaign for the new Co Essentials range, an edited collection of 30 refined, timeless wardrobe pieces.

The campaign, dubbed “Essential Woman,” profiles seven local trailblazing women through portraits (photographed by Amanda Demme) and their stories, all of which echo Co’s own values as a womenswear brand. The subjects featured are designer Pamela Shamshiri; novelist Rachel Kushner; director Ava Duvernay; CAA agent and Time’s Up cofounder, Maha Dakhil; director of Violence Intervention Program, Astrid Heger; UTA partner Blair Kohan; and actor and activist Marisa Tomei.

Guests including Kate Bosworth, Zooey Deschanel, Aubrey Plaza and Sophie Buhai gathered at the Rudolph Schindler-designed 1936 modernist masterpiece—part of the MAK Center for Art and Architecture constellation—where Danan and Kern currently have a residency. The duo helped renovate the historic property and converted the house into a temporary workspace and showroom, displaying Co’s latest designs alongside a curated selection of midcentury furnishings, objets, and artworks created in collaboration with gallerist Michele Maccarone.

A percentage of proceeds from the Co Essentials collection, available for purchase year-round, will benefit the Vital Voices organization, which is dedicated to empowering women through community engagement and individualized investments.
