Louis Vuitton + CalArts Benefit at Regen Projects
CalArts teamed up with Louis Vuitton to launch an exhibition and auction held at Regen Projects in West Hollywood on Tuesday, February 25, benefiting scholarships and the new John Baldessari Art Studio building on the university’s Valencia campus. More than 80 artists, many of whom attended the university or taught there, donated works for the show including Baldessari, Ingrid Calame, Liz Glynn, Catherine Opie, Dashiell Manley, Ed Ruscha, Jennifer Steinkamp, and James Welling. Guests including Eva Chow, Neda and Tim Disney, Baldessari, Opie, Beshty, and Manley turned out to toast the new on-campus creative space for CalArts students while Mia Moretti worked the turntables. The show is slated to remain on view at Regen Projects through March 8, before it travels to Paula Cooper Gallery and Metro Pictures in New York. Meanwhile, 48 works including one of Dave Muller’s vinyl record paintings have also been posted for sale online at Artsy, and Christie’s will auction pieces by Ruscha, Baldessari, Walead Beshty, and others on May 14 in New York.
