A+R + Designer Cristian Zuzunaga Salon Series
On March 15, global design resource A+R launched their latest Salon Series, spotlighting Barcelona-based designer Cristian Zuzunaga’s full collection showcase. A+R’s new 7,400-square-foot Row DTLA showroom served as a distinctive backdrop for design world tastemakers—Riz Walker, Beverly Klein, Raven Kauffman and Amy Devers, among others—sipping chilled cava and sampling Spanish tapas into the night. Zuzunaga’s Catalonian-produced furnishings, lighting and textiles, along with handmade Indian kilims, unfolded into a series of vignettes throughout the airy space. His exuberantly colored Pixel patterns punctuated the narrative. Pairing the highest quality organic materials with sustainable manufacturing techniques, the show also included Zuzunaga’s Cuzco- and Machu Picchu-inspired Inca collection. “Christian is an advocate of slow design,” said A+R cofounder Rose Apodaca. “He believes it is better to produce less but with better quality—especially if it means fostering skills and crafts that would otherwise be lost.”
