On Thursday, February 28, the Beverly Wilshire Hotel was the site of An Unforgettable Evening to benefit the Women’s Cancer Research Fund, attended by a long list of celebrities and generous supporters. WCRF co-founders Anne Douglas, Quinn Ezralow, Marion Laurie, Kelly Chapman Meyer and Jamie Tisch hosted the evening, which honored actors Kate Hudson and Gabrielle Union for their charity work, and raised funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Assisting with hosting duties were honorary chairs Rita Wilson, Kate Capshaw and Steven Spielberg, who mingled with guests such as Tamara Mellon and Jennifer Meyer in the hotel’s ballroom before and after the evening’s presentation.
Following remarks by special guest Sharon Stone, Wilson presented Kate Hudson with the 2019 Courage Award for her support of breast cancer research, and Gabrielle Union with the Unsung Hero Award for her own contributions to the cause. In addition to a seated dinner, guests, including Ken Jeong and Monique Lhuillier, enjoyed a special performance by Miley Cyrus, who regaled the crowd with her songs “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” and “The Climb,” as well as covers of “My Generation” and “River.” By the night’s end, the evening had made an unforgettable impact indeed — the event raised more than $1.5 million for women’s cancer research.
