The Exploratorium Opening Gala
The Exploratorium’s Opening Gala began by whisking guests down the length of San Francisco’s Pier 15 in serpent and snail-shaped cars designed by Oakland artist Jon Sarriugarte. The museum’s East Gallery was transformed into 24 different custom lounges which served as various hideaways for Supper Club attendees later in the evening. Guests commenced for dinner in the all-glass Fisher Bay Observatory Gallery, with views of the Bay Lights blinking in the distance. Board Member Stan Wojcicki announced a $5 million dollar gift from his daughter Anne Wojcicki and her husband Sergey Brin who weren’t in attendance. Also recognized were Gala chairs Sandy and Pail Otellini who raised $2.2 million dollars for the museum’s education programs. Capping off the evening was an antique apothecary, an investor’s laboratory, a VW bus campout and a surprise performance by comedian and musician Reggie Watts in the Supper Club area.
