Sunday, October 7, marked a day for celebration for fans of Van Cleef & Arpels, who gathered at South Coast Plaza to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic French jewelry brand’s Alhambra Collection.

The festive afternoon lured guests, including C Magazine founder Jennifer Smith Hale and her daughter, who got creative at the arts-and-crafts station while her mother explored the eye-catching new exhibition that transformed the South Coast Plaza’s Jewel Court into a magical world.

Bordered by tropical palms and green-tinted banners, the public installation featured a quartet of circular rooms at its center, each symbolizing a leaf of the lucky clover—the signature Van Cleef & Arpels motif—and telling a different part of the story behind the jewelry collection encompassing necklaces, bracelets and rings in rare stones and precious metals. As part of a dreamlike journey, visitors were able to walk through the company’s imaginative interpretations of a lush jungle, an ocean, a field of clovers and a storm cloud canopied with umbrellas, under which some of the range’s most coveted fine-jewelry designs were on display.
