Mr Porter Made in California
As the fashion world continues to fuel its appetite for all things West Coast, Mr Porter descended on Los Angeles Wednesday night to throw a retro-inspired bash for its new capsule series, Made in California. The online retailer took over an East Hollywood motel, transforming the venue into the “Mr Porter Motel,” for the all-out party and nostalgic California affair. Guest rooms were converted into photo stations, complete with palm-fringed backdrops and a customizable bandana shop with record-lined walls, and a B.S. taqueria stand and “maid carts” stocked with In-N-Out burgers.
The luxury e-tailer’s newly launched capsule series features 140-plus pieces by a dozen high-end designers with California roots: Amiri, The Elder Statesman, Golden Bear, James Perse, John Elliott, Mollusk Surf, Noon Goons, Outerknown, Rick Owens, Second/Layer, Simon Miller and Stussy.
The night saw more than 700 guests including actors Matt Bomer, Ethan Peck and Joel McHale, model Jordan Barrett and musicians like Mike Will Made it and Ty Dolla $ign, who posted up on a second level balcony for an all-night DJ set. Made in California designers were of course also in attendance, with Mike Amiri, Greg Chait, John Elliott, Kurt Narmore, John Moore, Josh Willis and Anthony Franco, Daniel Corrigan and Chelsea Hansford mingling amongst the crowd.
By the end of the evening, some revelers were dancing in the parking lot donning Mr Porter hotel robes and slippers—an eccentric but appropriate sight for a Hollywood Boulevard affair.
