About Town: Cheryl Han
Though Keaton Row co-founder Cheryl Han’s styling company is accessed online, she knows better than to rely on computer algorithms for such personal decisions as what to wear around town and where to wear it. Just like the company she launched in 2013—one that employs a team of in-house stylists who create personalized edited lookbooks filled with in-season designs from Saks, Shopbop and other retailers—Han likes to thoughtfully curate her daily life. She wears pieces that can be styled in various different ways, seeking items that build a wardrobe rather than chase a fleeting trend. Han’s favorite spots around San Francisco are equally well-researched and considered, from the lush Presidio Heights interior design boutique March to the sprawling Legion of Honor near Lands End. Here, Han describes where she goes and what she finds as she makes her way around town.
MARCH I absolutely love March on Sacramento Street. It is one of the most beautifully edited stores I have ever seen; the owners have impeccable taste. I also anything from Heath Ceramics or Hudson Grace.
AL’S PLACE The grits and french fries at this Valencia Street spot are musts.
LIHOLIHO YACHT CLUB The tuna poke at this Sutter Street eatery is not to be missed.
KOKKARI ESTIATORIO It’s a staple, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu at this Greek mainstay in Jackson Square.
TADICH GRILL A true San Francisco experience where the secret sourdough bread recipe is just as good as any piece of fish served.
R&G LOUNGE This Chinatown restaurant is on my list for the famous salt and pepper crab.
SOUVLA A great Hayes Valley spot for a quick, casual bite.
OUTERLANDS I love meeting friends for lunch at Outerlands and then walking just a couple of blocks down to Ocean Beach.
FERRY PLAZA FARMERS MARKET Call me a traditionalist, but there is something so picture perfect about Saturday mornings at the Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market. Whenever I have friends visiting San Francisco, this is a must.
THE MILL Not only is the coffee delicious and the toast the stuff of dreams, but the vibe just oozes cool. The Mill is one of the best places for people watching in town, and the only thing that rivals the toast is the pizza on Monday nights.
BIX I love a night out at Bix. It’s very old San Francisco, and it somehow takes you back in time, yet still feels perfectly contemporary and cool.
PRESIDIO Taking a hike through the Presidio is one of my favorite weekend pastimes.
CARNEROS INN This wine country hotel is one of my go-to getaway spots, as is POST RANCH INN in Big Sur. One of the beauties of the Bay Area is the wide radius of incredibly special places to explore.
LEGION OF HONOR This art museum is one of my favorite places in the city. From the setting to the architecture to the art, nothing beats this spot on a sunny day—or even a foggy one.
