LAXART Benefit + Distinct
Ringing in 10 years of building up L.A.’s art scene and celebrating its new Hollywood digs, non-profit art space LA><ART hosted a benefit presented by Distinct at Siren Studios on Sunday, November 15. Gallerists, curators and notable faces including Lisa Edelstein, Fred Savage and Lisa Schiff browsed through 200 pieces of artwork for the live and silent auction, which successfully marked the organization’s long-term fundraising goal of $800,000. Attendees, including established contemporary artists Rosson Crow, Fritz Chesnut, Jonas Wood and Shio Kusaka, joined Mark Bradford in honoring former director of the Watts Towers Art Center and legendary artist, John Outterbridge, for his monumental contributions to the creative community. Staying true to its mission, the organization teamed up with the Marciano Foundation to wrap up the anniversary party in LA><ART style: by presenting up-and-coming art studio, Slanguage, with an award of $10,000 towards fostering its Wilmington post.
