California Beauty: Kristen Stewart
In a modern world free of human emotion, what would happen if you contracted a disease that suddenly made you start to develop feelings and then discovered another person who also showed signs of similar sentiments? That’s the premise of Equals, a new film staring Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult and directed by Drake Doremus (Like Crazy), that premiered at the Venice International Film Festival on Saturday, September 5. Though the film, shot in Japan, relies on futuristic standbys including monochromatic clothes and makeup-free faces, the evening premiere was a more vibrant affair. Stewart wore a voluminous gray Chanel haute couture dress for the screening of the science fiction tale, and paired it with the French fashion house’s copper-toned lipstick, Misia. The actress’s subtly-shadowed eyes were created with a palette of nudes ranging from porcelain to dark brown, as well as a dash of black mascara. Chanel’s Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour SPF 15 in shade 30, in combination with a powder blush added a touch of color to the famously pale actress’s cheeks. Stewart also briefly smiled during the photocall, perhaps her own tribute to the emotions evoked in the film.
