Clare Vivier, Andy Spade, and Chad Buri hosted the opening of both Clare V. and Sleepy Jones, two new adjoining boutiques on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica on Thursday, November 20. Vivier, who lives near her Silverlake leather goods boutique, said she was glad to have a western outpost stocked with European fashion magazines, postcards and jewelry, in addition to weekenders and clutches. “Women who live in this neighborhood told me they had shopped at my New York boutique, but had never been into the Silverlake shop,” said Vivier. Apparently the 405 presents more of a barrier than the flyover states. Spade said he was happy to introduce the beach-adjacent but increasingly tech-centric neighborhood to well-crafted pajamas for men and women. “We’ll see how they do,” he said. Now Montana Avenue shoppers who don sleepwear as daywear have a new home away from home. In all, the new additions add a touch of style to the venerable shopping street just in time for the holidays.
