Summer is officially a month away, and residents of California’s landlocked cities are feeling the heat. For those inspired to plan a retreat to costal cities, AKA Beverly Hills has teamed up with Airstream 2 Go and Trina Turk to create a new mobile suite that’s fit for the all-American road trip. AKA masterminded the design for the space and tapped the fashion designer to put her stamp on the sleek 28-foot-long trailer with midcentury-inspired goods including needlepoint throw pillows in bright pink and tangerine hues and cocktail napkins with Greek key patterns. “The AKA Mobile Suite is such a unique concept,” says Turk, who also offers guests a curated packing list and a pre-vacation personalized styling session at her West 3rd Street boutique. “Our collections are often inspired by travels in California, and the mobile suite offers a quintessential Golden State road trip experience,” she adds. Creative travelers dreaming of a cruise up the coast should note that the 2013 aluminum trailer—stocked with a fully-equipped kitchen, leather banquettes, a queen bed with crisp linens, a flat screen TV, and Bulgari bath amenities—can only be commandeered by AKA Beverly Hills residents. But the retractable awning that provides extra shade on sunny summer days, iPod docking station, gas grill and the chic white bikes included with the trailer will likely lure new neighbors to the Beverly Hills residences. The suite-on-wheels can be booked for a special five-day getaway (the Airstream is towed by a GMC Yukon Denali), which includes a stop in Santa Barbara for wine tasting and yoga, and two nights at the Central Coast’s Ocean Mesa campground for surfing, hiking, or much-deserved lounging. What a civilized way to beat the heat.
