Perfect Pairing: Pamela Love + LoveGold
“The first thing I ever made was in 14k gold,” said Pamela Love, pointing to a two-headed snake ring on her finger. The New York-based jewelry designer was in West Hollywood holding court on Thursday, February 27, at the Chateau Marmont’s Selma House to launch her new fine jewelry collection created in partnership with LoveGold (part of the World Gold Council) and sold at Barneys New York. “It’s been one year of trial and error,” she said. “But I’ve been able to go back to my first love, gold and fine gemstones.” Love’s collection included new designs and a few old favorites such as her Arrowhead ring reworked in 18k gold with black or white diamonds. “The luna ring is my favorite,” she said, pointing to an 18k gold design with half moons and sapphires or opals set between diamonds.
Stylists and editors including Vogue’s Lisa Love stopped by to see the pieces made in yellow, white, and rose gold perched on the thorns of succulents placed alongside a table filled with delectable cakes and cookies. The editor’s presence turned the launch into a veritable lovefest. Meanwhile, manicurists decorated guests’ nails—including the jewelry designer’s—with bits of gold foil and beads. Love said she was also in town to visit manufacturing facilities in downtown Los Angeles. She, like Eddie Borgo, has a portion of her line made in L.A. “There are great resources here in town,” Love said. “We’re now splitting production between N.Y. and L.A.”
