Diptyque Los Angeles Opening Party
Cozy Larchmont proved to be an idyllic location for Diptyque’s first Los Angeles boutique and a charming setting for the opening night party celebrating the opening of the famed French candle and fragrance line on Thursday, February 20. Brigette Romanek and Katherine Ross hosted the bash benefiting LACMA, and guests got a sensory tour of fragrances, many of which were conjured up at the original shop located at 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain. Diptyque aficionados marveled at the display of candles covered in various sheets of colorful tissue paper (this trademark wrapping technique, beloved by co-founders Yves Coueslant and Christiane Gautrot, is only available in Diptyque boutiques). Three colors are used for each candle, and the combination is based on the fragrance itself. For example, the Baies candle, known for its English garden scent, is wrapped in red, black current, and olive paper. As guests departed, each left enveloped in a combination of the scents displayed inside the new shop.
