The SFJazz Center hosted its annual gala in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley on Friday, May 16, and honored legendary musician Herbie Hancock with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Guests tasted bites from Charles Phan, 1300 Filmore, and Boxing Room, among other local eateries. Master of Ceremonies Robert Townsend  introduced Hancock, and the SFJazz Collective, Paula West, and the SFJazz High School All-Stars all performed. Desserts by 20th Century Cafe and Smitten Ice Cream made the rounds as Charlie Musselwhite and Booker T. Jones performed. The night came to a close with a final number by Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires as well as a set by DJ Pat Les Stache.
