On Friday, May 8, S. F. Jazz honored Joni Mitchell with a lifetime achievement award during its annual gala held at the S.F. Jazz Center. While Mitchell herself wasn’t able to attend due to health complications, the event included performances by Judith Hill, Laurie Antonioli, and Kris Kristofferson, who all honored Mitchell by performing her songs. Saxophonist Wayne Shorter accepted the award on Mitchell’s behalf. Guests including Winona Ryder, Kristi Yamaguchi and Antoine Bethea all turned out for the celebration.
