Camp Hamel
Hamel Family Wines invited friends and vintners to Camp Hamel held at its Sonoma property on Saturday, May 17. The summer-themed bash was held in anticipation of the winery’s grand opening slated for June 2, and appropriately included lawn games, tents, campfire concerts, trail mix and barrel tastings. Pizzeria Delfina provided a lunch of wood-fired pizzas, salads and porchetta sandwiches, and The Girl & The Fig served a grown-up campfire supper of wood-fired roasted seasonal vegetables, an arugula and fig salad, wood-fired BBQ chicken, and twice-baked butterball potatoes with homemade bacon and Joe Matos St. George cheese. The 7,500-square-foot space will include limited-production wines from organically farmed vineyards led by two generations of the Hamel family, vintners Pam and George F. Hamel, Jr., George F. Hamel III, and winemaker John B. Hamel II. Camp festivities conjured up by interior designer, Ken Fulk will continue throughout the summer. Fulk has partnered with the family to curate experiences for guests such as dinner in the vineyards with Chef Gary Danko, campfire concerts, and an outdoor movie series to be announced in the coming weeks.
