Gagosian Gallery San Francisco Opening
Coming off the heels of SFMOMA‘s grand reopening on May 14, the San Francisco art world braced itself for yet another milestone occasion with the Gagosian Gallery‘s first S.F. debut on Wednesday, May 18. Global gallerist Larry Gagosian was joined by some of the art scene’s biggest players and enthusiasts, including renowned artist Ed Ruscha, Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger and, his wife, Kaitlin, social empress Denise Hale and interior designer Douglas Durkin. A testament to the Gagosian Gallery’s eminent works and curators, the inaugural exhibition, “Plane.Site“, showcased invigorating pieces from 20th-century powerhouses like Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and David Ireland. Guests previewed the artworks—which explored the relationship between drawings and sculpture as embodied by these 20th-century masters—in the historic Crown Point Press Building, marveling at the iconic works and equally impressive interior.
