Brenda and George Jewett were in a blue mood at the California College of the Arts (CCA) annual gala held in San Francisco on Wednesday, March 26. The evening’s co-chairs, celebrating renowned architect Art Gensler, requested that guests arrive at the benefit for the school’s student scholarship program dressed in blue to reflect the evening’s décor, created by Stanlee Gatti, and the night’s theme of Blueprints, Blue Jeans & Bluegrass. Gatti transformed CCA’s San Francisco campus into a veritable concert hall for post-dinner dancing courtesy of the Brigham Brothers Band, a local folk music band. Gensler, founder of the global design firm that bears his name, is also a CCA trustee, and he spoke about the school’s impact on students who are both local and international. “CCA has a rich history and a tremendous future, and I have long been impressed by the caliber of students who come from around the world to study architecture, art, design, and writing here” he said, adding, “My wife Drue and I began donating to CCA student scholarships back in 1994. We want[ed] to invest in the education of extraordinary young people who will become the next generation of creative leaders.”
