Bloomingdales +Advanced Style Book Signing
On Saturday, June 11, Bloomingdales and Mark Rhoades welcomed author and photographer Ari Seth Cohen for a signing of his new book, Advanced Style: Older and Wiser, along with notable philanthropist Joy Venturini Bianchi. Spotlighting glamorous senior style around the globe, the new tome is a follow-up to Cohen’s Advanced Style, and includes 22 essays written by the featured subjects, including San Francisco’s own Bianchi, the perfect embodiment of perennial style. The afternoon also saw a launch of Bianchi’s Helpers House of Couture pop-up shop, offering vintage designer wardrobe pieces, with ten percent of the day’s proceeds from the department store and one-hundred percent of the pop-up proceeds going towards Helper’s, an organization for the developmentally disabled. In between book signing and mingling, artist Suzy Kellems Dominik held a Q & A with Cohen and Bianchi, revealing how Cohen was inspired by his own grandmother’s unique sense of style to set forth and capture the creativity and wisdom of the over 60-set, showing a positive and inspiring image of aging.
