Spotlight: Sugar Paper
As the old saying goes, some things do get better with age. Or, at least it’s the case for stationery studio, Sugar Paper. Founded in 2005 by Jamie Grobecker and Chelsea Shukov, the Brentwood–based boutique now has a new look with the help of longtime friends and clients Shannon Wollack and Brittany Zwickl of Life.Style Design Studio. “Sugar Paper has been open at the Brentwood Country Mart for nearly ten years and the company has changed a lot since then,” says Shukov. “The updated store reflects where Sugar Paper is today.”
The glamorous-meets-refined space—layered with crisp, white built-in shelves, pale pink tufted armchairs, brass pendant lamps by David Hicks, custom-built desks, and an all-brass cash wrap—is meticulously curated with a mix of paper goods from single letterpress cards to monongrammed notecards and gold-and-white striped notebooks. A cozy upholstered window seat lined with pillows in soft pink and white hues also encourages stationery enthusiasts to sit and relax. “We wanted every detail to feel more special, but we still wanted our existing customers to feel at home,” adds Shukov.
In May, the company will launch the Signature Desk Collection, a line of vintage-style brass accessories including a letter opener, ruler, and a stamp holder.
