Spotlight: Pink Chicken
A bright pink ceramic chicken marks the front door at newly opened boutique, Pink Chicken, on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica. Conceived in 2006 by fashion designer Stacey Fraser, the offerings include everything from vintage and global-inspired dresses and blouses, to Mara Hoffman swimwear, and accessories such as raffia bags and beaded necklaces for women and children. “What began as a line for babies and young children quickly became a collection for infants, toddlers, tweens and their moms, who have looked on enviably at their little one’s style,” says Fraser of the brand’s evolution. “Our collections reflect my love of color and vintage textiles, and easy, breezy designs for girls and their mothers that are no-fuss and always stylish.”
The new store—designed by Fraser along with Los Angeles–based decorator Gavin Brodin—is layered with brass pendant lamps, hand-blocked lotus wallpaper by Galbraith & Paul, and a massive oceanscape photograph by Isack Kousnsky. “I love the light, airy feel,” adds Fraser. “Our goal was a calm, chic, East Coast beach vibe, and many of my favorite details were inspired from my family’s home in Amagansett. It feels like home to me, and I hope our customers have the same feeling when they come in.”
