Perfect Pairing: Mara & Mine + The Surf Lodge
This summer, Mara&Mine teams up with The Surf Lodge in Montauk for a limited-edition pair of espadrilles fit for a leisurely stroll along any beach boardwalk. “The inspiration for the espadrilles was The Surf Lodge itself,” says Jasmine Yarbrough, co-designer and co-founder of Mara&Mine, who spent much of her time vacationing at The Surf Lodge. Opened in 1967, the seaside getaway is appointed with hanging rattan chairs, yellow basket pendant lamps, sofas upholstered with bamboo- and palm tree-printed fabric, and jute rugs. “We used the hotel’s bamboo sofa print for the design of one of the canvas espadrilles, and their white-and-turquoise palette for the other two with our renowned Mara&Mine skeleton foot stitched on the front.” Made in Spain, the hand-stitched espadrilles ($200) are lined with comfy lambskin and come in three designs. “The espadrilles are perfect for a cute summer dress or a pair of shorts and a tank top,” adds Yarbrough.
Life at the beach (or pretending like it, anyway) never looked so good.
