Perfect Pairing: Gray Malin + The Parker Palm Springs
With his new fine art series, Gray Malin at The Parker, photographer Gray Malin has transformed the cheeky, Jonathan Adler-designed property, Parker Palm Springs into a veritable fantasy land. His new collection, consisting of fourteen prints, depicts playful, glossy images shot throughout the 13-acre resort (think poolside, a vibrant, green lawn juxtaposed with colorful balloons, and a sunny, yellow-and-white striped lemonade stand) with a twist. His subjects include a real-life baby giraffe, a zebra, a flamingo, penguins, and a monkey dressed as a bellman. “There is something about the Parker Palm Springs that really feels transcending to me,” says the Los Angeles–based photographer. “I feel like I am in a different world when I walk through those orange doors. My mind is able to wander creatively, which lead me to dream up this concept.”
In the lobby, guests can get a close-up of two of the new framed photos, “Pool Boys,” and “Afternoon Croquet,” or purchase the prints online. (It’s the first time the hotel has swapped out the artwork in the lobby in a decade.) So, if a summer visit isn’t already in the works, it might just be worth a drive-by alone.
