Perfect Pairing: Carrozzini + Ferragamo
“I try and find a moment, sometimes it happens in a more static way, sometimes it’s in motion,” says photographer Francesco Carrozzini who was commissioned by Salvatore Ferragamo to shoot portraits and film of five creatives, including artist Ryan McGinley, for a new digital menswear project called A Man’s Story. The house’s founding patriarch emigrated from Italy to Boston and on to California to launch his custom shoemaking business, inspiring the Italian fashion house and Carrozzini to seek out men who have similarly stepped out in their own right. “For a man to have a vision and the courage of his convictions is both noble and timeless,” says the brand’s creative director Massimiliano Giornetti, who teamed up with New York-based Carrozzini to spotlight McGinley, musician ASAP Rocky, hockey star Henrik Lundqvist, and actor Douglas Booth. Using a Leica S Series camera, Carrozzini captures each guy at ease, going about their day while wearing the men’s collection. “I wanted diversity in locations and characters; something that was eye-catching and interesting for each talent,” says Carrozzini. He explains that the subjects in A Man’s Story share a common thread, “They’ve not been afraid to make their own rules, even when it’s meant potential failure. That’s what makes them so inspiring, and the stories they’ve shared with us so compelling.”
