Perfect Pairing: CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund x J.Crew
After nearly a year of design and development, N.Y.-based retailer J.Crew officially launched its third installment of collaboration with the winners of The Council of Fashion Designers of America and the Vogue Fashion Fund earlier this month. In stores this month, the 2013 recipients of the award include L.A. native Juan Carlos Obando, N.Y.-based label Public School and French-born jewelry designer Marc Alary, who each created an assortment of pieces blending their personal styles with the J.Crew aesthetic.
The trio of collections feature a total of 19 indigo-inspired pieces, ranging from skirts, tops and blazers to jewelry. While Obando, beloved for his use of vibrant color and his modernist approach to evening wear, focused his exclusive capsule collection on flouncy skirts, chic blouses and a “J.C.”-printed T-shirt, Alary—known for his animal-shaped, precious stone-accented gold jewels—created dangle earrings, a bracelet and a brooch along with tees featuring a bird and berry motif. Public School provided a street wear-chic edge to the J.Crew line, fabricating an assortment of tanks, chambray shirts and luxe sweatpants.
The exclusive styles range from $50-$500 and will be stocked for a limited time at select J.Crew locations, including its West Coast outposts at South Coast Plaza, The Grove and the Malibu Lumberyard.
