California Beauty: Marc Jacobs Spring 2014
François Nars struck a blue note with the two bold makeup looks he created for Marc Jacobs’ spring 2014 show in New York on Thursday, September 12. Models walked a runway covered in black sand with bits of detritus, and each wore an identical wig with a short blunt cut and blond streaks. The clothes—including shorts that resembled men’s surf trunks—were printed with patterns that seemed derived from Polynesian prints. And Jacobs didn’t shy away from dark colors—black, navy, green, and maroon were all present in the fabrics. Nars created a chic yet vibrant compliment to the dusky shades. “This is a summer look that’s all about the eye,” Nars said. “Most of the girls have a teal blue line, but some have a royal blue, extending past both the inner and outer corner. The skin is very transparent for a flushed look.” The fashion pack is already talking a blue streak about Nars’ artistry.
