Vanity Fair + Taschen Annie Leibovitz Book Launch
Vanity Fair, Leon Max, and Benedikt Taschen honored famed photographer Annie Leibovitz for the debut of a massive edition of her eponymous book at the Chateau Marmont on Wednesday, February 26. The two-and-a-half-foot-tall, 57-pound tome was designed to rest on a modern Marc Newson-designed coffee table. Leibovitz—known for her portraits and the wind-swept cover images she’s created for Vanity Fair and Vogue, spent three years selecting her favorite shots from over 40 years of collected work. The collection, published by Taschen, includes rare images of familiar faces in pop culture, politics, royalty, and the like, such as Whoopi Goldberg submerged in milk, Patti Smith before a roaring fire, and a formal color portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. D.J. Ms. Nix mixed for guests including Mitch Glazer, Kelly Lynch, André Balazs, Graydon Carter, Patricia Clarkson, Melanie Griffith, Gillian Jacobs, Terry Richardson, and Wolfgang Puck, who got a first look at the mega-book. The evening benefited Donors Choose, an online charity supporting students in need and requests for support from public school teachers nation-wide.
