Ladies from Pasadena, San Marino, Hancock Park, and Santa Barbara converged in downtown Los Angeles at the California Club for The Blue Ribbon’s 45th Anniversary Luncheon on Thursday, November 21. The nonprofit was founded by Dorothy Buffum Chandler to help sustain the resident companies at the Music Center, the cultural trifecta of symphony, opera and performing arts venues she dreamed up and championed. Current president Carla Sands welcomed guests and she and past presidents of the women’s group presented scrolls to active founding members present at the lunch. Photobooks with images of the women taken in the ’70s and ’80s at work running the annual Blue Ribbon Children’s Festival, an admission-free program that brings area 5th grade students to the Music Center each spring.
