J. Paul Getty Trust + Lord Jacob Rothschild
On Sunday, November 9, nearly 250 guests attended a dinner in honor of Lord Jacob Rothschild at the Getty Center in Brentwood. At the gathering, the J. Paul Getty Trust awarded the prestigious Second Annual J. Paul Getty Medal to British investment banker and preservationist Lord Jacob Rothschild (his efforts helped restore the 18th-century Somerset House in London). Actress Gwyneth Paltrow introduced Rothschild, while J. Paul Trust President and CEO James Cuno presented the award. Artists and tastemakers such as Ed Ruscha, Charles Ray, Tacita Dean and Matthew Hale attended and enjoyed wine and Fiji water provided by Lynda and Stewart Resnick. In addition, other guests included Michael Anne and Jerome Fisher Director of The Israel Museum, Steven S. Koblik, president of The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, Stephen Lavine, president of California Institute of the Arts and Ann Philbin, director of the Hammer Museum.
