Hotel Californian Debut
On Thursday, April 26, the Hotel Californian opened its doors with a wonderland-themed fete that drew a star-studded list of attendees, including Michael Keaton, Nicollette Sheridan, Jane Lynch, Bo Derek and John Corbett.
After getting an exclusive first glimpse of the new Santa Barbara getaway—which boasts 121 rooms and suites, with interiors designed by Martyn Lawrence Bullard—guests experienced a series of fantastical rooms that were transformed for the evening by production designer Kris Moran, including a gelatin dessert art installation and a Yayoi Kusama-inspired mirror room filled with balloons.
Partygoers enjoyed sounds from Fred Durst’s jazz ensemble at the pop-up speakeasy, while on the main stage, John Mayer dedicated an hour-long performance to the coastal city before Lion Babe wooed the crowd with a set.
The night ended on a high-note, as DJ Kaz James performed for a dance party inside a theatrical, Studio 54-style room.
